Giant Panda

Welcome to the Genma Project Page. This is a supporting project of Nagios, an open source monitoring suite by Ethan Galstead.
Download.

This project's aim was to create an easy way for Windows Administrators to create the configuration files needed for nagios on a Windows System. To this end, an administrator can run the software on the system and genma will generate the config files with various options, as well as automatically generate checks for all services that are running on the system (with all the service dependencies included in the check).

This project relies on nsclient, an agent that runs on the Windows System. At this time, nsclient looks to be without a maintainer. Neither the maintainer or the original author can be reached. I am considering writing my own .net service to perform the function (the original code is in delphi, and I do not program in that language, nor want to). .Net is my preferred Window's development language, as it has C like syntax and I don't have to worry about memory management (which has plagued the nsclient application from time to time). If I get this working, I will tie it into a yet untitled project I am working on for a graphical front end to Nagios.

If you are looking for an alternative at this time to Nsclient, try nagios-wsc, a .net service that uses wmi from 1 machine to check all of your hosts, written by Frank Thomas.

Well, that's it. If your interested in more features or anything, a small donation and a request will get you far (being a Network Engineer for a film company in California doesn't pay that well, though you get to work with some great people).

Thanks for using Genma
